Watch the story
Ashot lives in Yerevan, Armenia, and was educated in the field of light industry. After becoming disabled himself, he turned his personal rehabilitation experience into an opportunity for others. In 1999, supported by the British Embassy of Armenia, he founded an inclusive gym where people with and without disabilities train, work, and grow together. Anyone with a disability over the age of 14 can train free of charge. Alongside the gym, he launched the social initiative “Skarp” to further promote the rights and visibility of people with disabilities. For Ashot, social entrepreneurship is first and foremost about creating social value — not just profit.
